It was a terraced college where philosophical discussions were held in those days. The ruined arched terraces are now turned into a botanical garden. The quiet and refreshing environ of the place is worth a visit by the Buses from Belgaum. South west of Hazratbal, a part of the Dal Lake, separated by a causeway is Nagin Lake or the ‘Tewel on the Ring’ surrounded by tall green chinars, poplars, etc., forming aring, the lakelet, appears like a sapphire set in an emerald. Then near by Nagin Bagh is ful1ofmany kinds of beautiful trees such as chinar’, poplar, willow, cherry, apricot, apple and almond. It is a popular haunt of many song-birds.
