Are you wondering “how to speed up my pc“? There are two different things that you can do – handling hardware issues (these would in all likelihood need money to be spent) and software issues (these would be mostly free of charge). Following are the various steps that you can take to do so:

1. Hardware issues:

Your computer has a slow processor (that is its frequency, normally expressed in GHz is low).

Your computer does not have enough ram (For a Windows XP computer, any amount of RAM lower than 512mb is probably insufficient to provide a good user experience).

Your Hard Drive is too slow or is dying.

In all the above 3 cases, the only option that you have is to change/upgrade your corresponding hardware. Now, move to the software issues to learn how to speed up your PC

2. Software issues:

You can see at list by Start > Run > msconfig > startup tab and can uncheck some of the unnecessary processes. Be careful not to uncheck any system process about which you don’t have much idea.

Use a registry cleaner to remove all corrupt and incorrect entries. Registry errors are one of the most common reason for slow computers and many other problems/errors as well.

Optimize the visual settings to not have attractive effects or get a good graphics card if you feel that it is graphics that is slowing down your system.Highly fragmented hard drive: You can defragment your hard drive by going to Control Panel.
