How to speed up my PC? - Useful tips

January 24th, 2010 by admin

Are you wondering “how to speed up my pc“? There are two different things that you can do - handling hardware issues (these would in all likelihood need money to be spent) and software issues (these would be mostly free of charge). Following are the various steps that you can take to do so:

1. Hardware issues:

Your computer has a slow processor (that is its frequency, normally expressed in GHz is low).

Your computer does not have enough ram (For a Windows XP computer, any amount of RAM lower than 512mb is probably insufficient to provide a good user experience).

Your Hard Drive is too slow or is dying.

In all the above 3 cases, the only option that you have is to change/upgrade your corresponding hardware. Now, move to the software issues to learn how to speed up your PC

2. Software issues:

You can see at list by Start > Run > msconfig > startup tab and can uncheck some of the unnecessary processes. Be careful not to uncheck any system process about which you don’t have much idea.

Use a registry cleaner to remove all corrupt and incorrect entries. Registry errors are one of the most common reason for slow computers and many other problems/errors as well.

Optimize the visual settings to not have attractive effects or get a good graphics card if you feel that it is graphics that is slowing down your system.Highly fragmented hard drive: You can defragment your hard drive by going to Control Panel.

I Found A Blog That Talked About fixboot

January 24th, 2010 by admin

I have been looking all around the world wide web in search of the computer related knowledge that I need so badly.  I am typically able to handle the more simple sort of issues on my own, but when it got complicated recently I really did have to get some extra knowledge.  I found a really fantastically helpful and informative blog that talked about fixboot and gave a good and detailed explanation of it as well.  It was just what I had been on the lookout for, and it was such a relief to get some step by step explanations and instructions.

Resolve the Application error “The memory could not be read”

January 23rd, 2010 by admin

Is it the case that when you try to log on to the local console of your Windows 2000-based computer, you receive the following error message: The instruction at ‘<address>’ referenced memory at ‘<address>’. Application error “The memory could not be read”.

Click OK to terminate the program. And when you click OK, your computer restarts. However, after many logon attempts you might actually be successful. Note that this error message may also occur if you log on by using a Terminal Services client. The reason for the Application Error message - ” the memory could not be read” is that the OS allocates a smaller buffer for the string length than the maximum permitted length. When the data is larger than the buffer size, the Winlogon service stops unexpectedly and your computer generates the error message. However, this problem has resolved in the latest service pack for Windows 2000 and hence to resolve it, install the latest service pack.

Photovoltaics PV Energy for Small Businesses

January 22nd, 2010 by admin

As a small business owner, I have been looking for different ways that I can reduce my energy cost and help the environment at the same time. Another business owner recommended that I look into solar energy sources. After doing some research on the Internet, I decided to purchase several photovoltaics PV solar panels to place on the roof of my company’s warehouse. By using energy from the sun, I have seen a big reduction in the cost of my monthly electric bill. I would definitely recommend that all small businesses invest in this type of renewable energy source for the future.

A display for a household

January 17th, 2010 by admin

Projectors are lighter and less bulky to ship and to install than an LCD or Plasma. Single chip DLP and 3LCD projectors typically weigh between 10 - 20 lbs. Plasma displays are fairly heavy, and may need additional supports to be mounted onto a wall. Projectors are the best value by cost per viewing inch. Projectors are better suited for a dedicated home theater than as the sole display for a household. If the average American household hd plasma tv watches an average of four to six hours of television a day, even a 30,000 hour backlight would give you over 16 years of use. Both Plasma and LCD technology should more than adequately satisfy most consumers. Projector lamps can be changed more than once.
