“I want a Hilton on the Moon. That’s where we’re headed.” Although Conrad Hilton’s unashamedly ambitious statement of intent to Donald Draper in Mad Men might not have been fulfilled quite yet, it’s arguable that the closest the Hilton empire has come to realising these lunar aspirations is the Hilton Sharks Bay in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh. Looking out of the crystalline waters of the Red Sea and set against the stark beauty of the Sinai peninsula, with its vast desert and jagged mountain ranges, Sharm el Sheikh and Egypt’s other red sea resorts offer a beauty that’s quite unique.  Moreover, with 7 swimming pools and no fewer than 11 restaurants and bars, it’s hard to imagine a better-appointed hotel.
